Ankama
Founded by Anthony Roux, Camille Chafer and Emmanuel "Manu" Darras on May 15, 2001, Ankama is an independent digital creation group focused on the entertainment industry and initially became known for its video games (Dofus, Dofus Arena and Wakfu). The company name comes from their own names: ANthony, KAmille, MAnu.
Ankama's development is based on a transmedia strategy; it creates detailed narrative universes (for example, the Krosmoz) which are further enriched by their portrayal over various media. By creating links between these stories, Ankama offers the public the chance to alternate between media, to become ever more immersed in an imaginary world, and to live and share a rich interactive experience.
On the wave of the success of the Flash MMORPG Dofus, several industries have been created within the company: Ankama Games (video game design), Ankama Web (interactive communication), Ankama Publishing (comic book publishing).
Ankama then went into yet another market with the release in 2009 of the collectible card game Wakfu. They initially allied with Upper Deck Entertainment to help them with the first steps of commercializing and promoting the new game, then took their independance in 2010.
